About To Be The Big 19

It’s been another awesome week here in Juchitan!  I know Im getting closer to leaving which makes me sad! If the gut feeling I have is right, I only have 5 weeks left here. Theres only been one Elder to stay in an area for more than 6 months I don't think Im about to make two. 

I genuinely have the biggest love for each and every single person here! It truly feels like home away from home.

We see miricales every day here. And the ward has kicked into gear and are all stoked to help at all costs. Which is truly amazing because when I got here it was a huge struggle to get anyone to help. 

My family always is asking what there is to do here and the truth is, not much! But Juchitan is my FAVORITE place ever. Theres no beach, nothing fun to do,  it’s either scorching hot or unbearably windy. BUT I LOVE IT! And why, because the people are truly the most Christlike people! 

Birthdays are all around down here. NEXT SUNDAY ELDER CARTER TURNS 19 ….HOW WEIRDDDDD! And my companion hit the big one nine on Thursday! Soooo so fun!

I was thinking a lot about the prophets talk, where he said we all need to rededicate our lives amd be better disciples of Jesus Christ. And I kind of brushed off his message as a missionary, I couldnt possibly be a better disciple. But we all can and we can pray to know our weaknesses! 

Ether 12-27 And if men come unto me I will show unto them their weakness. I give unto men weakness that they may be humble; and my grace is sufficient for all men that humble themselves before me; for if they humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, then will I make weak things become strong unto them.

I love you and your Savior loves you! Keep striving to be better each and every day! We live to learn! We live to change!

I have a lot of scrambled thoughts this week but I hope I can share them all without writing a whole darn novel. It was such an amazing week! So hard but so good. Always have to start with a funny story... duhhh. We went over to an investegators house to teach a lesson. Hes super old and speaks a native dialec called Zapoteco. He speaks spanish just with a really strong accent. Anyways, we get his house and he offers us some water. We didnt see where he got it from so we always have to ask so we dont get sick. He says its from the rain the other day so we were already a little skeptical, and then I look down at the water and its legit BROWN and its got random chunks floating in it. My comp is talking to him about it and this investigator starts going off becuase we're not drinking the water, he starts quoting scriptures about how everything from God is good yada yada yada. Loving The Work And Potatoes

Where is the time going?! The weeks are flying by. Im really not sure what exactly to write about. I’ll do my best to give you guys something. We've all heard the saying "you got a face only your mother could love" I think my emails are "emails only a mother could read". If you feel that way feel free to scroll down to the pictures . I gave my very first talk this week in church! With nothing prepared I got up and spoke over a pulpit with no microphone and somewhere along the way mustered up the ability to say "I love my family so much and miss them. Most of all I miss my potatoes". I meanttt to say parents but hey...I guess I miss potatoes too. I don't have any more funny stories but it really was an awesome week. FIRST WEEK IN THE FIELD

Mannn what a week! Probably the hardest week of my life if I'm being honest.  Lets just start with the good stuff... First day after I got my comp and assignment we got on a bus for a 7 hour ride to our area Tecnogloico, which is in Juchitan! We were about 4ish hours into our 7 hour bus ride when the bus just stopped. We werent sure why so after we waited half an hour we got out and figure out that there was a blockade. So people were protesting... protesting what I'm not sure. We made our way back to the bus to sit and wait for 2 more hours. As they all say here "Gracias A dios"(thanks to God) I thought they were saying Gracias Adios the whole time. But... a member from Morro, which is a neighboring mission came and picked us up to bring us closer to Juchitan so that our Bishop could come get us.
