Green Cards, Ants And A Hurricane

Image
WHAT A WEEK!!! 18 hours on buses and taxis later I’m back in Juchitan! I got to spend a couple days with some of my friends from my MTC district as we made our way back to the city for our green cards! It was nothing short of an absolute party! It was absolutely beautiful and so different than Juchitan. There were buildings made out of WOOD! Craziness. Funny story for the week! This Sunday there weren't any young men to bless the sacrament soooo ya boi had to step up and do the dang thang. If you know me very well, you know I’m the kid who ended up saying the sacrament prayer 4 times because I couldn't get it right. If you can imagine that then imagine how I was feeling preparing to say the prayer in Spanish...as I knelt down to say the prayer and opened the microphone, ants began flooding out! I’m not sure from where or how but here I was, ants crawling up my arm mumbling the sacrament prayer in Spanish. That'll be a core memory from my mission. For some odd reason they do...

Vida Es Muy Dificil

This week went by soooo darn fast. Its crazy because youre like I HAVE TO DO THIS FOR TWO YEARS? No way I’m gonna make it and other days youre like I ONLY GOT 21 MONTH AND 25 DAYS LEFT... I GOT WAY TOO MUCH TO DO! Honestly though when you get lost in the work the days feel like hours and the weeks feel like days. Im missing home a lot this week... like always. My family is most certainly my rock and every little note I get throught the week from them just makes me want to push a little bit harder, walk a little faster and share the gospel with a little more pride! I dont really have a funny story for this week unfortunately... but heres a little something. Although there are SOOOO SO MANY dogs here I’ve been missing my puppies at home. I think about how much a dad loves his Charlie girl and snuggles her in bed every morning .  Sorry to out you like that pops, BUT as we were chatting with THE COOLEST recent convert, I just see this guy pull up his like 120 pound pitbull up into his ...

SERVICE IS THE KEY

I have a lot of scrambled thoughts this week but I hope I can share them all without writing a whole darn novel. It was such an amazing week! So hard but so good. Always have to start with a funny story... duhhh. We went over to an investegators house to teach a lesson. Hes super old and speaks a native dialec called Zapoteco. He speaks spanish just with a really strong accent. Anyways, we get his house and he offers us some water. We didnt see where he got it from so we always have to ask so we dont get sick. He says its from the rain the other day so we were already a little skeptical, and then I look down at the water and its legit BROWN and its got random chunks floating in it. My comp is talking to him about it and this investigator starts going off becuase we're not drinking the water, he starts quoting scriptures about how everything from God is good yada yada yada. Well then my comp looks at me and goes "Should we drink it?" I WAS LIKE HECK NO. The investigator ...

FIRST WEEK IN THE FIELD

Mannn what a week! Probably the hardest week of my life if I'm being honest.  Lets just start with the good stuff... First day after I got my comp and assignment we got on a bus for a 7 hour ride to our area Tecnogloico, which is in Juchitan! We were about 4ish hours into our 7 hour bus ride when the bus just stopped. We werent sure why so after we waited half an hour we got out and figure out that there was a blockade. So people were protesting... protesting what I'm not sure. We made our way back to the bus to sit and wait for 2 more hours. As they all say here "Gracias A dios"(thanks to God) I thought they were saying Gracias Adios the whole time. But... a member from Morro, which is a neighboring mission came and picked us up to bring us closer to Juchitan so that our Bishop could come get us. As I grabbed my two 60 pound suitcases and 30 pound carry on, it started to DOWN POUR. We walked about a half a mile in a full suit, will my big ole suitcases, down a road t...
